Seminar Prep #2 - Lumière Surgery

Our friend Lumière from Beauty & the Beast shocked me with his dedication to the audio industry when he kindly volunteered for open heart and stomach surgery today. Actually, the changes are being made to his vocal chords.

All toys that talk have some resistors that control the clock speed. Guess what? Exchange that resistor for another one with different values, and you will either slow down or speed up the clock to get some cool noises.

Recently finished a fun project for IUGO Mobile Ent., a team who managed to bring a very fun and unique concept to life. What IGN thought about the audio:

I stole the review below from somewhere on the web, thought it was a nice description of the sound:

"Music was chosen wisely for each table. Tiki Trouble gives you that Hawaii type feel. You almost expect to see some little characters dressed in hula skirts performing a beautiful little dance. Monsteropolis features a bit of a rocking beat, Dreams & Nightmares is tranquil, and Neometric has a little of that futuristic techno feel to it. Sounds feel like they were lifted from actually real life pinball tables. When a ball connects with the flipper, you truly believe it. You can tap away on the flippers and they sound just like you remember them all those years ago."

Initial ideas for the 'Music for Moving Pixels' Seminar.

Having fun with MAX/Msp and hooking up color and sound on a blind date. Also hacking some hardware to get cool sounds through unorthodox methods. Speakers in series for some good ol' pop 'n' crackle vibes, and resistor implants on toys for real hands-on vocoding.
